Extraordinary sand sculptures

When I was a little girl and my family went to the beach, my father would create astounding, intricate sand castles that people up and down the beach would come to see. I don't think we have any pictures of them, which is a shame.

My dad is an artist. He currently uses this talent to restore antique tin toys (his before and after pictures are amazing), which he sells at auction.

I think when he was younger, he could have been one of the people working on such amazing (albeit temporary) works of art as those found at Sandsational Sand Sculpting.

While my dad just used a kiddie sand bucket and kiddie sand shovel (along with his talented hands and mind), if you want a little more help in sand sculpting check out this cool site: Can You Dig It Sand Tools. It has hints and tips on sand sculpting aimed at kids and adults alike, and sells the tools of the trade (not expensive!).

  • Aha! The Sandsational site was were I pulled the medieval revelry scene I used on December 3rd. Thanks for reminding me that I'd wanted to revisit the site. There's some superb work there.
